Pre-Treating Your RTO
The other day we talked about some options that you should look for in your RTO in order to stop plugging before it starts. What other pre-treatment options can be used?
Pre-treatment options include a final filter prior to the oxidizer. Paint spray booths typically have dry filters or water wash filtering. As precaution we recommend the addition of a final filter prior to the oxidizer to protect from filter breaks upstream or improper filter installation.
You may also want to add a stand-alone ceramic filter. However, even though they are sometimes suggested to control organic particulates, heating the ceramic filter constantly may result in excessive fuel costs, since the airflow over the filter will act to cool the ceramic filter that the burner is trying to heat. Contact us if you would like us to evaluate the feasibility of a ceramic filter. A filter is an easy fix in most cases, but the fuel demand is usually high enough to consider the other methods available to address organic particulates.
Have a particulate issue in your emission stream? Give us a call with quantity and size of the particulate. We’ll let you know if you will need pre-treatment prior to the oxidizer.
