Manufacturing Engineer
Position Overview: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and supporting manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production. This role serves as a bridge between design engineering and production, ensuring that products are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet customer and company standards. The Manufacturing Engineer will analyze workflows, design process improvements, and implement solutions that enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization. They play a key role in new product introductions, continuous improvement initiatives, and problem-solving on the shop floor.
The position reports to: Manufacturing Superintendent
Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes to support production goals.
- Design and implement process improvements, tooling, fixtures, and automation where applicable.
- Analyze workflows, production methods, and layouts to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing manufacturing methods and documentation.
- Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and standard operating procedures(SOPs).
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure products are designed for manufacturability (DFM).
- Identify root causes of production issues and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor and report key production metrics, ensuring alignment with quality and safety standards.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Develop and adjust the production schedule; monitor progress and update regularly
- Provide regular updates to the Manufacturing Superintendent regarding schedule status.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in [pollution control equipment, e.g., metal fabrication, electronics, plastics, etc.]
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production systems.
- Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, etc.) and ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
