Mechanical Designer

Established in 1996, Kono Kogs, Inc. (KKI) is a privately owned company that is recognized as the world’s leading supplier of refurbished thermal oxidizer systems. In addition to refurbished systems, KKI’s product portfolio now includes both new thermal oxidizers and VOC rotary concentrators.

As a result of recent growth, our company is looking to add a Mechanical Designer to our team! KKI provides a casual and flexible working environment and a terrific opportunity to get on board with a growing company.

Position Overview:

As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for developing detailed mechanical drawings, maintaining accurate 3D models, and collaborating with various departments to meet project goals. This role is essential in ensuring that designs meet quality standards and are executed effectively and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed mechanical drawings using AutoCAD Mechanical and Fusion 360
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Autodesk Fusion to create parts, assemblies, and detail drawings.
  • Develop sheet metal flat patterns to assist manufacturing.
  • Work directly with Mechanical Engineer and Project Managers to understand client requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and shop leads on new designs and rebuilds.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining engineering standards.
  • Create detailed specification sheets for purchasing.
  • Design stacks and ductwork per SMACNA standards.
  • Ensure all designs meet quality and performance expectations, including efficiency and productivity standards.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and design reviews to resolve any cost, quality, or production issues.
  • Revise and update existing drawings based on engineering change requests.
  • Support standardization initiatives and reusable component development.
  • Regularly communicate and interact with other team members to ensure project success.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and supporting equipment issues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Mechanical and 3D CAD software (Fusion 360 is preferred).
  • Experience in creating mechanical drawings and sheet metal flat patterns.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work successfully across different teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawing standards and tolerancing.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes (sheet metal, machining, and welding).
  • Experience in industrial equipment, ductwork, structural support, or mechanical systems is preferred, but not required.
