Refurbished RTO for Pharmaceutical Coating Emissions

Problem
A coating company specializing in the production manufacturing of thin film coating on pharmaceutical drugs was increasing production and needed to control the new methyl acetate emissions. An additional two lines that were exhausting to the existing catalytic oxidizer were intended to be added in the future as well.
The total amount of methyl acetate in the exhaust was too high to be introduced to the RTO, even with the addition of a hot-side bypass. This presented a scenario where the batches would need to be staged to avoid high temperature conditions in the RTO, which was discussed with the customer in the beginning stages of the buying process.
Solution
With our wide variety of RTO sizes and technologies available in our oxidizer inventory, Kono Kogs was able to provide a MEGTEC Clean Switch RTO. This system is a proven performer for a wide variety of emission airstreams with low pressure drop, robust design, and the innovative rotary switching valve.
Added was a KKI designed VOC hot side bypass to bypass clean, hot air directly into the exhaust stack to de-rate the thermal efficiency of the oxidizer when VOC concentrations are at high levels.
Kono Kogs provided the shipping of the RTO to site, rigging and mechanical assembly on the customer’s pad on the roof of the facility. We also provided all power and control wiring, gas and compressed air piping, and commissioned the RTO and supplied an extensive spare parts package.
